Who is Dr. Lewis?

Dr. Dominic J. Lewis, MD is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in the care of patients with degenerative joint disease, hip and knee replacements, sports injuries, and other conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Lewis received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and has been in practice for over 20 years.

Dr. Lewis is committed to providing his patients with the best possible care and offers a wide range of treatment options, including minimally invasive surgery, computer-assisted surgery, and custom joint replacement surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lewis is affiliated with Aventura Hospital and Medical Center and now NetStep™ partner.

Importance of Orthopedics and Insoles

Orthopedics is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. In other words, orthopedic doctors are experts in joint pain. They can provide you with a comprehensive plan to help reduce your symptoms and improve your quality of life.

“Our bodies are almost like machines so just like a car will need oil change every so often. You’ll need to add some fuel here and there to replenish,” Dr Lewis said during the podcast.

The Role of Custom Orthotics

The foot itself is is a small structure barely bigger than the hand right but it carries all of your weight. Not only does it carry weight but you also need locomotion, which is the act of moving. Also so we’re talking about walking, we’re talking about running, we’re talking about jumping, and all of the above. All of these things, you could look at it from a risk of injury perspective, you could look at it from a nutritional perspective. All of these things put stress on the feet,” Dr. Lewis said.

Some people can bear the pain for so long while others can have breakdown episodes. The role of custom orthotics is to act as a preventive option as a support for people who need a little bit of extra support and that support could be in the form of simply extra padding.

Dr. Lewis is the newest NetStep™ custom insoles partner. He will be working with us to provide the best possible care for patients.
